  • Meet the family: Perfect Chocolate. This is #4 in our Trencadís bonbon series. The big daddy of the family, Perfect Chocolate. He is exactly what you expect. Pure strong chocolate flavor, made with with 72% cacao chocolate and nothing else, just chocolatey goodness. He's definitely the strong silent type. Barcelona has a long history with chocolate, most significantly, Barcelona is the first place where chocolate was introduced to Europe. Apparently, chocolate-making was kept a secret within Spain for nearly 100 years!   • Meet the family: Cafe con leche. This is #3 in our Trencadís bonbon series. The little brother of the family, Cafe con leche, is unique: He's the only milk chocolate bonbon. He's got a milk chocolate shell, filled with a high-octane espresso and milk chocolate ganache, resulting in a super-silky smooth and satisfying bonbon. Cafe con leche has a green shell because coffee beans are, in their original natural state, green! Here in Barcelona, we have a massive coffee addiction. You can get coffee just about anywhere you look, at all times of the day. And unlike my home country, buying just a simple cafe con leche will give you rights to that table on the terrace all afternoon, no stink-eye from the waiter!   • Meet the family: Orange-vanilla. This is #2 in our Trencadís bonbon series. Like her sister C.C., Orange-vanilla has a white chocolate shell, but colored with an inviting orange tint. And again, like her sister, she's filled with a white chocolate ganache, but this one is strongly orange-flavored with plenty of orange zest and a bit of vanilla. Orange-vanilla because it's a great flavor pairing, but also because you can't go anywhere in Catalunya without seeing the ubiquitous orange juice machines, just filled with oranges, ready to be juiced!   • Meet the family: Crema Catalana. This is #1 in our Trencadís bonbon series. C.C. has a white chocolate shell, colored a bright sunny yellow. She's filled with a white chocolate ganache flavored with burnt sugar and vanilla, and just a tiny hint of orange. C.C. is a very literal representation of dessert flavors here in Catalunya, obviously, but she's very popular! Fun fact: Crema Catalana is NOT simply "Spanish creme brulee", it is the other way around. Creme brulee is French "Crema Catalana!"
